How I Cast A Christian Circle

If you have a blended path, then you may find yourself foundering around to find what “fits” you and your beliefs. Even if you do follow a tradition, you may find it useful to change the wording or add a great bit of poetry you found. There is no one way or “right” way to cast circle.  It is as personal as your favorite lounging clothes and should be just as comfortable for you.  Read everything you can get you hands on, talk to others about what works for them and then create your own ritual.
There are, however, basic parts that should be included.  This isn’t because it is a “sin” to leave out part. It is simply that the ritual circle should be taking seriously and you want to be prepared, protected, and thorough enough to accomplish your goals. These parts are:

I. Preparation
II. Opening
III. Casting Circle
IV. Calling Quarters
V. Invocation (Inviting the God and Goddess)
VI. Cakes and Ale (Receiving the Blessing )
VII. Ritual (Using the Blessing)
VIII. Offering (Giving Thanks for the Blessing)
IX. Devocation
X. Dismissing the Quarters
XI. Opening the Circle
XII. Closing
XIII. Grounding and Centering

Because I have chosen a blended path, there is precious little information on exactly how to cast a Christian Wiccan circle.  Nancy Chandler Pittman's Christian Wicca: The Trinitarian Tradition is an excellent source. However, even her rituals were not an exact fit.  So, I had to begin to make my own way.

How My Ritual Differs From Most Traditions

                                  1. I no longer use the pentacle (not that there is anything wrong with it - it just didn't seem to suit me). I am now using the Star of David

within a circle. The upper triangle and each of its points represent the male deity and the lower inverted triangle represents the female and

each point a female aspect of deity.

                                  2. My deities are Father, Son and Spirit (Yhwh, Yeshua and Ehyeh) and Maiden, Mother and Crone (Sarah - the daughter of Yeshua and

Magdalene, Magdalene - the bride of Yeshua and Mary - the mother of Yeshua)

                                  3. I begin in the North rather than the East.

                                  4. North is represented by Fire and South by Earth. (This is the reverse of typical.)

                                  5. Instead of  a gold and silver candle for the God and Goddess, I have a Unity candle.

The following is a diagram and a sample ritual:

I. Preparation
Before you begin, you should make sure everything is in order for your ritual.
        A. Prepare your space.
        B. Set up your altar.
        C. Make sure you have all necessary tools and they
are clean,  polished and wax free.
        D. Ground and Center to prepare yourself
for the work to be done.

II.  Opening
We gather in the names of the Father, Son and Spirit and the Maiden, Mother and Crone. May all present be blessed by the work done in their names.

III. Casting
(Starting in the North, walk clockwise- the circle is triple cast.)
1st: Holy Trinities, male and female, consecrate this space that we may do your work.
2nd: Divine masculine and feminine, protect those within this circle from all negative energies.
3rd: I call this Sacred Space cast in Perfect Christian Love and Trust

As The Trinity Dwells within Our Heart
As above, so below, As within, so without.
As the Universe, so the Soul... ”

      So mote it be.

XIII. Grounding and Centering
After the ritual you should ground and center in order to release the energy you built up during the ritual.Otherwise, you may feel like you are “bouncing off the walls” or you may feel drained. This will return you to you normal state.
